atelier 5, siedlung halen (1955-61)
i think this is the closest you can get to a modernist utopia – which might explain why it seems a little creepy. i can just imagine a corbusian cult living in this isolated community. siedlung halen, designed by architecture team atelier 5, is a small township tucked into a forest sloping down to the edge of a river in switzerland.

[title] today’s title is google translation of atelier 5′s siedlung halen project description. for more, including some informative sections and plans, check out their project pdf.
[images] typically i like to credit photographs, but there is not a lot of information about this project on the web. the above images were snagged from a google search.
[more nature + housing + concrete] the decision to post about siedlung halen came to mind following recent ayh posts on 120 birch trees and a community designed with the community.
