okay, i promise this is the last post about museums for a bit.

life is art foundation (formerly kk projects) is just too interesting. in a similar yet different way to la congiunta and the hombroich museum, life is art engages the political and cultural landscape of its surroundings.  located in six abandoned buildings, including a former bakery, storefront and houses, in the st. roch neighborhood of new orleans.  these buildings acts as the galleries and art pieces.  above, mel chin’s intervention on one of the structures.

art is life also directly engages the surrounding community by holding installations and community dinners in the street.  they’ve also started an urban farm on their properties.  art is life isn’t building an art culture, its building a community.
