currently absorbed by the architecture of lina bo bardi. her work is cloaked in the aesthetic of brutalism but retains the spirit of complexity and contradiction (before venturi wrote the book). sao paolo art museum (masp) is a great manifestation of both/and. bo bardi would go on to design several other mesmerizing buildings including sesc, which she famously hoped would be “even uglier than masp” .
